The French Language Enhancement Course is a series of 3 interactive modules that will help both current and aspiring FSL teachers deepen their writing, listening, and speaking skills within the framework of language development, FSL pedagogy, and curriculum expectations. Through the perfect mix of active conversation, reading, and writing, participants will level up their skills and confidence with the mentorship and guidance of an experienced educator.

Hanoi Toronto School (HTS) participants will engage in a 5-day facilitated course where they will explore and understand the key instructional approaches specific to Ontario curriculum policies including: Inquiry-based Learning, Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated instruction and Project-based Learning. Through dialogue and research, teachers will understand the essential practices for effective instruction and the delivery of the Ontario curriculum for all students. The fundamental principles of assessment and evaluation practices will also be presented. Teachers will be encouraged to consider these approaches, strategies, and principles within the context of teaching and learning at HTS.
In this course you will explore and understand the key K-8 instructional approaches of an effective teacher in Ontario. Lessons and activities will delve into inquiry-based learning, Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction and project-based learning concepts, approaches, and strategies. The fundamental principles of assessment and evaluation in Ontario will also be explored. This course is facilitated by an experienced Ontario educator who will guide you in dialogue and research to understand the essential practices for effective planning, instruction, and assessment to support all students in K-8 Ontario classrooms.

The Faculty of Education, York University is responsible for the following:
• Develop content for 3 customized sessions
• Provide York project leads to serve as the main client contact regarding the
development of the content and for the logistical details for these sessions
• Hire, monitor, and compensate a facilitator
• Deliver instruction at agreed upon dates and times via Zoom
• Provide York University certificates of completion for each participant at the end
of these sessions
Note: This certificate course is open to anyone applying to the Catholic School Boards in Ontario and faculty of education students in their final year of study. This course is not equivalent to the Religious Education, Part 1 Additional Qualification (AQ). This is not a mandatory course but is advised if seeking employment with a Catholic School Board (CSB). The CSB may require candidates to be practicing Roman/Eastern rite Catholics.
This course is intended to introduce pre-service Teacher Candidates to professional practice and to extend knowledge and skills in the delivery of Ontario Catholic curriculum, however, it is also considered a valuable resource for all applicants to the CSB.
This course is 36 hours in length and is fully online. Critical to the implementation of this course is the modeling of a positive learning environment that reflects care, professional knowledge, ethical practice, leadership and ongoing learning. This course answers the question, "What do I need to know to begin teaching in Ontario Catholic Schools?" Consequently, this course:
promotes an understanding of teaching as a vocation rooted in the call to Christian ministry
creates an awareness of the context of Ontario Catholic education
develops skills that enhance the integration of Catholic Graduate Expectations in the classroom and throughout the school
fosters professional knowledge of Religious and Family Life Education, and
assists teachers in the acquisition of the theological background and skills necessary for the implementation of the Religious Education and Family Life curriculum.

methods consolidating their skills in:
Creating learning environments where students are active participants as individuals and as
members of collaborative groups
Displaying effective and efficient classroom management promoting risk taking and appropriate
student behavior
Designing lessons that allow students to participate in empowering activities in which they
understand that learning is a process and mistakes are a natural part of learning
Identifying and employing a wide variety of instructional, assessment and evaluation strategies
and tools which promote inclusion, accommodate diverse learning needs of all students and encourage
students to accept responsibility for their own learning
Creating an environment where student work is valued, appreciated and used as a learning tool.
