The Additional Basic Qualification course, Intermediate Basic (Dramatic Arts) is a prerequisite for teaching Dramatic Arts in the intermediate division and serves a diverse group of previously qualified teachers. Candidates include teachers making divisional changes, planning to move into administrative positions, entering the Ontario school system as well as teachers engaging in ongoing professional learning.

Critical to the delivery of intermediate division subjects is the ability of teachers to ensure positive learning experiences for students. Thus, effective teachers are skilled at combining their knowledge of adolescent development and learning with their understanding of the subject matter of Dramatic Arts and their ability to facilitate active student engagement.

Prerequisites

  • An undergraduate degree acceptable to the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Be a member in good standing with the OCT

Session Dates
Start Date: Oct 04, 2022
End Date: Dec 09, 2022
Mandatory synchronous sessions: October 4, 2022 - December 9, 2022. Every Tuesday. Be available between 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm. Meeting times and duration of the sessions are set by the instructor. This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. In addition to the synchronous sessions, expect to be online at least every second day for Fall, Winter and Spring courses; and every weekday during a Summer course to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
