The Additional Basic Qualification course: Intermediate Basic (First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies) will help you to further enrich student learning outcomes by delivering varying perspectives on issues, practices and events from the past, present and emergent future with respect to First Nations, Metis and Inuit culture. The voices and wisdom of Knowledge Keepers, community members and educators are reflected in this course. First Nations, Métis and Inuit knowledge, ways of knowing, culture, language and traditions are honoured and celebrated throughout the course.

This course is intended to explore and enhance professional practice, program planning and leadership within the Intermediate Division. Additionally, this ABQ will extend professional knowledge, skills and pedagogies within this specific area of study and explore the theoretical foundations associated with supporting the adolescent learner.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • An acceptable post-secondary degree or equivalent qualifications

This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. Expect to be online every weekday during a Summer course to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
