The Additional Basic Qualification Course: Intermediate Basic(History) employs a critical, pedagogical lens to explore, in a holistic and integrated manner, theoretical foundations, learning theory, program planning, development and implementation, instructional design and practices, assessment and evaluation, the learning environment, research and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning across the divisions. Through these explorations, you will strengthen your professional efficacy by gaining in-depth knowledge, refining professional judgment and generating new knowledge for practice. This course is intended to explore and enhance professional practice, program planning and leadership within the Intermediate Division History courses. In addition, this ABQ course will extend professional knowledge, skills and pedagogies within this specific area of study and explore the theoretical foundations associated with supporting the adolescent learner.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • An acceptable post-secondary degree or equivalent qualifications
  • TWO full university degree credit courses in History

Online:October 3, 2023 - December 8, 2023. This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. Expect to be online at least every second day for Fall courses to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
