This course prepares teachers build deeper knowledge about the Junior learner, and to become teacher-leaders within the Junior Division. In this Junior Basic Additional Basic Qualification course, we will consider different strategies and plans that can be implemented to create change and build success for the Junior Learner. Candidates will work together to build on a foundation of Inquiry that helps take the learning deeper, and applies it to the unique needs of the Junior learner. In addition to addressing core subjects of literacy and numeracy from an inquiry stance, candidates will also examine key leadership strategies that facilitate student achievement and professional development. Co-planning, co-teaching, co-reflecting and co-assessing will be examined to facilitate knowledge build on a foundation of professional leadership, skills, pedagogies and content knowledge that best support the diverse skills, needs and identities of the Junior Learner.

Online: April 2 - June 14, 2019. This 125 hour course consists of 75 hours of online participation, 25 hours of self-directed professional learning and completion of a 25 hour independent study. Times of participation are set by you. There are scheduled deadlines for assignments. Contributions to on-line discussions are expected. Participation in any full-class simultaneous discussions (i.e. Chat) is always conducted on an "as able" basis.
