The Additional Qualification Dance, Part 2 Course explores the theoretical and practical applications of teaching dance in both elementary and secondary programs. Building upon the concepts and skills developed in Dance Part 1, candidates deepen their practice through an active exploration of dance education, with an emphasis on inquiry, advocacy, curriculum planning and effective unit design explored through diverse forms of dance expression. Within the context of equity and culturally relevant practices, candidates have the opportunity to critically examine a range of learning materials, pedagogical frameworks and teaching/learning strategies available to assist with program planning, development, implementation, assessment and evaluation.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Part 1 completed
  • Minimum ONE year of certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification

  • Signed Supervisory Officer's Form by course end date confirming required teaching experience
Session Dates
Start Date: Apr 09, 2024
End Date: Jun 14, 2024
Mandatory synchronous sessions: April 9, 2024 - June 14, 2024. Every Tuesday Be available between 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm. Meeting times and duration of the sessions are set by the instructor. This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. In addition to the synchronous sessions, expect to be online at least every second day for Fall courses to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
