The Additional Qualification Course: Dance, Part 3 Specialist employs a critical, pedagogical lens to explore in a holistic and integrated manner theoretical and practical applications of teaching dance in both elementary and secondary programs. Building upon the concepts and skills developed in Dance Part 2, candidates examine instructional design and practices, assessment and evaluation, the learning environment, research and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning of dance across the divisions.

Within the context of equity and culturally relevant practices, candidates have the opportunity to critically examine a range of learning theories and considerations for program planning, development and implementation. Through these explorations, candidates strengthen professional efficacy by gaining in-depth knowledge, refining professional judgment, and generating new knowledge for practice. The underlying purpose of the Additional Qualification course Dance Part 3 Specialist is the development of capacity for curriculum leadership in candidates.

Prerequisites

  • Be a member in good standing with the OCT
  • Part 2 completed
  • Minimum TWO years certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification including ONE year in Dance

Session Dates
Start Date: Jul 05, 2021

Online: July 5 – 30, 2021.

Mandatory synchronous sessions: July 5 – July 16 2021 (Monday to Friday). Be available between 8:30am - 4:30 pm. Meeting times and duration of the sessions are set by the instructor. All coursework must be completed by July 30, 2021

This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. In addition to the synchronous sessions, expect to be online at least every second day for Fall, Winter and Spring courses; and every weekday during a Summer course to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
