This facilitated online course includes some mandatory synchronous sessions with real-time group interaction set by the Instructor. Audio and video recordings may be a required element of the learning.

The purpose of the Health and Physical Education (H&PE ) Intermediate/Senior Part 2 Additional Qualification (AQ) Course is to extend candidates’ skills and knowledge for the design, delivery, and assessment of H&PE programs. This Part 2 course focuses on the theory and practice underpinning H&PE through exploration of the underlying philosophy and its application for ensuring a healthy, active living education. Critical to the delivery of H&PE is the ability of teachers to ensure positive learning experiences for all students. To this end, candidates learn to combine their knowledge of physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development and learning with their growing understanding of students’ needs and ability to facilitate active student engagement.

Prerequisites

  • Be a member in good standing with the OCT
  • Completion of Health and Physical Education (H&PE ) Intermediate/Senior Part 1 OR Hold a Basic Qualification in Health and Physical Education in the Intermediate or Senior division
  • Minimum ONE year of certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification

Session Dates

End Date: Jul 29, 2022
Online: July 5-29, 2022.

Mandatory synchronous sessions: July 5 – July 18, 2022 (Monday to Friday). Be available between 8:30am - 4:30 pm. Meeting times and duration of the sessions are set by the instructor. All coursework must be completed by July 29, 2022

This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. In addition to the synchronous sessions, expect to be online at least every second day for Fall, Winter and Spring courses; and every weekday during a Summer course to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
