The Health and Physical Education (H&PE), Primary/Junior Part 2 Additional Qualification Course extends candidates’ knowledge and skills for designing, delivering, and assessing program. Through Part 2, candidates examine their role within the healthy schools framework by considering the needs of the whole child, increasing knowledge and development of physical and health literacy, and strengthening commitment to lifelong healthy, active living. Successful candidates demonstrate critical thinking and reflecting, engage in classroom practice, explore research, inquire and share their knowledge of planning a Health and H&PE unit of study within the context of a healthy schools framework.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Part 1 completed
  • Hold a Basic Certification in Primary or Junior Division
  • Minimum ONE year of certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification

Session Dates
Start Date: Apr 09, 2024

Mandatory synchronous sessions: April 9, 2024 - June 14, 2024. Every Tuesday Be available between 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm. Meeting times and duration of the sessions are set by the instructor. This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. In addition to the synchronous sessions, expect to be online at least every second day for Fall courses to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
