The New to Teaching – Mathematics, Primary and Junior Part 1 Additional Qualification Course provides a basis for an understanding of current mathematical pedagogy and Ministry policy. In this course, educators with some or little Ontario classroom experience will be guided in examining values, perceptions and knowledge about teaching, learning, assessing and communicating about mathematics.
Through inquiry, problem solving, discourse and ongoing analysis candidates will develop the knowledge and skills to plan and implement the mathematics curriculum for primary and junior students and assess their mathematical understanding.

The New to Teaching - Teaching English Language Learners Part 1 Additional Qualification Course provides an introduction to the theory and practice underpinning second-language teaching and learning while examining factors influencing acculturation. The content addressed in this course is intended to assist educators with some or little Ontario classroom experience in the design, implementation, and assessment of programs for linguistically and culturally diverse students at all grade levels.
You will also develop an awareness of the role of the ELL teacher as an advocate for students’ linguistic and social adjustment challenges and needs in the school; and, as a collaborative partner for in-school and community services personnel and parents/guardians.
