The Special Education Part I Additional Qualification course explores the theoretical foundations, the development of learners, program planning and implementation, instructional practices, assessment and evaluation and the learning environment to support the effective teaching and learning of students with special needs.

Prerequisites

  • An undergraduate degree acceptable to the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Be a member in good standing with the OCT

Online: July 18 - August 12, 2022. Mandatory synchronous sessions: July 18 - 29, 2022 Be available between 8:30am - 4:30 pm.Meeting times and duration of the sessions are set by the instructor. All coursework must be completed by August 12, 2022. This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. In addition to the synchronous sessions, expect to be online at least every second day for Fall, Winter and Spring courses; and every weekday during a Summer course to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor. Virtual: 10 mandatory synchronous sessions from July 18 - 29, Monday to Friday, held between 8:30am – 4:30pm. All coursework must be completed by August 12, 2022.
