The Special Education Part 2 Addition Qualification Course is designed to expand upon the skills and knowledge developed by successful candidates who have completed Part 1. It employs a critical, pedagogical lens to explore in a holistic and integrated manner theoretical foundations, development of learners, program planning, and Ethical Standards and the Standards of Practice. Critical to the implementation of this course is the modeling of a positive learning environment that reflects care, diversity, and equity.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Part 1 completed
  • Minimum ONE year of certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification

Session Dates

Mandatory in-person and online virtual dates include: Thursdays in person from 5:30 - 9pm: October 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, 21, 28, December 5, 12, 19, 2024 AND Saturdays from 9am – 3:30pm: October 26, November 16, 30, December 14, 2024. Remainder 66 course hours is asynchronous online learning. Location Note: Sessions will be taking place in the Holland Room at the Burlington Central Library. As all 3 AQ parts will be together, sections will be separated into groups in the Holland Room or Library study area. All evening classes are in person. Beverages and hand-held snacks are permitted. Saturday sessions will begin at the Library some hours may be completed virtually.
