Writing, Part 1

The Additional Qualification Course: Writing Part 1 will engage you in exploration of professional practice, critical pedagogies and the knowledge and skills outlined in the OCT course guidelines. Through inquiry, you will examine beliefs and theories about being literate and learning to write; critically explore, reflect, and engage in discussions pertaining to teaching and learning within the context of writing instruction and learning to write. From there, you will integrate new learning into practice as you consider students’ individual needs, narratives, interests, and learning preferences.

Through the Writing Part 1 AQ course, you will consider 21st-Century competencies, tools, and processes for creating engaging, trusting, and inviting learning environments. You will also explore assessment practices that encompass the Ontario MOE curriculum frameworks and policy documents and consider fair, equitable, transparent, valid, and reliable assessment methods that honour the dignity, developmental needs, emotional wellness, and identity of all students.
