The Additional Qualification Dance, Part 1 Course is an introduction to the pedagogical and practical applications of dance in elementary and secondary schools as both a distinct discipline and teaching methodology. Active and experiential sessions provide candidates with an opportunity to develop skills and confidence in the use of dance across the curriculum. Through the lens of equity and inclusivity, Dance Part 1 focuses on differentiated instructional design and effective lesson planning and implementation within the classroom context. Candidates have the opportunity to become familiar with theoretical foundations, pedagogical frameworks, teaching/learning strategies and practices available to assist with program planning, development, implementation, assessment and evaluation.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Qualifications in at least one of the following:
    • primary division
    • junior division
    • intermediate division
    • senior division.

    Participate in live Zoom sessions every Tuesday - May 5, 2026 - June 9, 2026 beginning at 6:00 pm. Note: Live Zoom sessions will take place between 6pm and 9:30pm. The Instructor will confirm times. This dynamic course includes interactive, instructor-led sessions and online learning designed for immediate classroom application. You’ll actively participate in discussions and activities that make learning interactive and relevant. In addition to our live sessions, plan to check in online every couple of days to complete assignments and connect with your peers in vibrant discussion forums. Your instructor will keep you on track with valuable feedback, clear deadlines and guidance every step of the way.
