The purpose of this course is to give Teacher Candidates an understanding of current theoretical positions and research in curriculum and instruction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. The course content provides a framework for understanding the instructional techniques encountered in practicum placements. The practicum component of this course exposes Teacher Candidates to the range of educational environments as well as the communication philosophies and modalities used in the education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. This seminar course is focused on Teacher Candidates' construction of personal theories of teaching and learning through their observations in classrooms and in interactions with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
