The purpose of this course is to further investigate with Teacher Candidate's strategies to support and teach Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in mainstream settings. How to effectively integrate course material previously studied in the regular education setting and new language goals from the students IEP will be a major goal of this course. Strategies and assessment tools to mesh the curriculum of the classroom with the individual learning needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing student will be examined. Working collaboratively with other professionals within and outside the educational setting will be researched. Teacher Candidates will have significant opportunities to connect with professionals in the field, including itinerant teachers of the deaf and Hard of Hearing. Research will include the most current materials and resources available to itinerant teachers. A portion of the course will examine technology and amplification devices commonly used with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
