Delivered through a Catholic lens, the Guidance and Career Education, Part 1 Additional Qualification course deepens your understanding of others while enhancing your own and others’ learning through collaborative development of approaches and methods rooted in faith-based practices. Participants will explore holistic, integrated approaches to guidance-program planning and implementation, grounded in both theoretical foundations and Catholic principles. The course supports your awareness of students’ diverse learning needs, development, and vocation discernment while fostering inclusive and Christ-centered learning environments.

In addition, through critical consideration of instructional practices, assessment and evaluation, and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning, you will increase your capacity to promote and support students' well-being from a faith-based perspective. This course also integrates Catholic social teachings, encouraging reflective practices that uphold the dignity and worth of each student.

In short, Guidance and Career Education, Part 1 will enhance your professional knowledge, ethical practice, leadership capacity, and ongoing learning, empowering you to support students in Catholic schools as they develop their God-given potential and discern their paths in life.

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Qualifications in at least one of the following:
    • primary division
    • junior division
    • intermediate division
    • senior division.

    This 125 hour course consists of 100 hours of interactive coursework and 25 hours of independent learning. Regular and relevant candidate participation is a requirement. Expect to be online at least every second day for Winter courses to complete assignments and collaborate in discussion forums. All deadlines will be communicated by the Instructor.
