The Reading Intermediate, Secondary Focus Part 2 Focus Additional Qualification course builds your understanding of reading instruction, assessment, and support of adolescent students. Through examining current research and best practices, you will enhance your capacity to build a comprehensive literacy program across intermediate and secondary curriculum areas. A central focus is on developing strategies for identifying gaps through effective assessment, and then providing effective support and instruction for student comprehension and critical literacy. Finally, you will explore how to intentionally embed discipline-specific reading skills and strategies into courses to support the literacy development of all students.

Prerequisites

  • A Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Part 1 completed
  • Minimum ONE year of certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification
  • Hold an Intermediate or a Senior Qualification
