The Additional Qualification Course:
Mentoring, is open to all teachers with an interest or background in this area and a desire to extend and apply knowledge, skills and practices related to mentoring and building relationships. Critical to the implementation of this course is the creation of positive learning experiences that reflect care, professional knowledge, ethical practice, leadership and ongoing learning. Through a holistic approach, candidates will explore how the mentoring relationship supports effective teaching, learning and leadership practices and understand the role of the mentor in varying contexts. In addition, candidates will delve into various ways of knowing and being by developing awareness of; for example, First Nations, Métis and Inuit ways of knowing and perspectives. In short, this Mentoring AQ will enhance your competency to lead with confidence, become a reflective practitioner, and establish meaningful relationships with in-school personnel, parents/guardians and the community.
